About Us
At Dhanak, we believe every child, regardless of their background deserves a safe, nurturing, and equal start in life. We are committed to bringing marginalized children from the shadows to the center of the social narrative by amplifying their voices, protecting their rights, and empowering their families and communities.
Through our Centre for Learning and Empowerment (CLE), over 50 students are enrolled in foundational education including English and computer literacy– to equip them for a brighter, self-reliant future, and skill-building programs and activities including sessions, workshops, field visits, and educational trips.
We work closely with Children in Need of Care and Protection (CNCP) and Children of Incarcerated Parents (COIP), ensuring they receive the care, support, and opportunities they deserve. From legal support and counseling to education and skill development, our programs are designed to break cycles of neglect, abuse, and poverty.
By collaborating with 6 Child Welfare Committees (CWCs), grassroots communities, and partner organizations, Dhanak continues to stand with children who need protection, healing, and hope– because every child deserves a reason to smile.
Values & Principles
At Dhanak, we stand by every child who needs care, protection, and a chance to thrive. Our programs focus on children in vulnerable situations, including Children in Need of Care and Protection (CNCP) and Children of Incarcerated Parents (COIP). Here we make sure that they are not left behind.
We work with two primary categories of vulnerable children:
- Children in Need of Care and Protection (CNCP): who may be orphaned, abandoned, neglected, or survivors of abuse, exploitation, or violence.
Children of Incarcerated Parents (COIP): minors who come in contact with the juvenile justice system.
Our Interventions:
Our interventions are aligned with national child protection laws such as:
- The Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015 (JJ Act)
- The Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012
Guidelines and orders of the Child Welfare Committees (CWCs) and Juvenile Justice Boards (JJBs)
Mission and Vision
Together, we’re giving children the tools, trust, and opportunities to reclaim their childhoods and build stronger futures.
Our Mission:
-
To protect, empower, and uplift marginalized children and their communities through education, legal aid, counseling, and skill development. We aim to break the cycle of poverty and violence by mainstreaming child rights in every sphere; from community development to policy advocacy.
Our Vision:
-
A world where every child, regardless of class, caste, or circumstance grows up safe, respected, and free from discrimination. A society where human rights are not a privilege but a promise kept for every child, every time. A future where every child has a reason to smile.
